Fields of Mistria Marriage Candidates: Full Guide to Getting Married
Learn how to marry every Fields of Mistria marriage candidate. Complete guide to engagement rings, wedding planning, spouse perks, and starting a family.
Direct Outcome
Marriage in Fields of Mistria lets you lock in a permanent partner, unlock exclusive spouse furniture, and start a family. The full process takes roughly 3–4 in-game seasons from first meeting to wedding day, assuming you focus on one candidate. This guide walks you through every step: raising hearts, crafting the engagement ring, proposing, planning the ceremony, and the post-marriage content that follows.
Prerequisites
Before you can propose, you need to meet these requirements:
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| 10 hearts with your chosen candidate | Max friendship level for any romanceable character |
| Dating status | Must be actively dating the candidate (8 hearts required to start dating) |
| Ancient Ruins access | Mines floors 81–99 unlocked |
| Mine floor 90 cleared | Required to unlock the Dragon Forge for crafting |
| Blacksmithing station | Either the one in front of March's house or one on your farm |
| Engagement ring recipe | Received from Elsie's visit after reaching 10 hearts |
Note: You can date multiple characters simultaneously, but proposing to one automatically converts all other romantic relationships to best friend status. There is no divorce mechanic in version 1.0, so your choice is permanent.
The Complete Marriage Roadmap
Step 1: Reach 10 Hearts
Focus on your chosen candidate's liked and loved gifts. Talk to them daily and give gifts they enjoy. You can check their preferences in the Social tab. Once you hit 10 hearts, sleep and wake up the next day — Elsie will appear at your door to explain the engagement process and give you the engagement ring recipe.
Step 2: Gather Engagement Ring Materials
The engagement ring requires these materials:
| Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Ingot | 4 | Smelt gold ore (mines) |
| Mist Ingot | 4 | Smelt mist ore (mines floors 81+) |
| Diamond | 2 | Mine floors 81–99 |
| Dragon Forged Core | 1 | Crafted at Dragon Forge (mine floor 90) |
To craft the Dragon Forged Core, you need:
- 5 Monster Cores
- 1 Mist Ingot
- 1 Pink Diamond
- 1 Ancient Firefly
- 1 Medium Essence Stone
All of these materials drop from the Ancient Ruins floors (81–99). The core itself takes zero minutes to craft, so you can make it at the end of any day.
Step 3: Propose
With the engagement ring in your inventory, approach your partner and select the "Discuss" option. This triggers a private conversation where you can talk about your future together. You're not locked into proposing — you can back out and retrigger this scene as many times as you want.
When you're ready, select the proposal dialogue option. If your partner accepts, you're officially engaged.
Step 4: Plan the Wedding
Immediately after the proposal, a calendar appears. The earliest possible wedding date is 5 days after the proposal. You can pick any date within the current year.
In the days leading up to the ceremony, talk to your fiancé(e) to customize:
- Flower decoration colors
- Wedding cake flavor
- Reception meal
Other villagers will also have unique congratulatory dialogue when you talk to them after the proposal.
Step 5: The Wedding Day
On your wedding day:
- Wake up to Elsie and Josephine at your door
- Get escorted to the Sleeping Dragon Inn
- Choose your wedding outfit (3 dress designs + 3 suit designs, each with multiple colorways)
- Pick headwear (veils, flower clips, or top hats)
- Participate in the candle-lighting ceremony
- Attend the reception at the inn
Your farm chores (watering, feeding animals) are automatically handled by the townsfolk on this day. After the ceremony, your spouse moves into your farmhouse.
Step 6: Post-Wedding Content
The day after your wedding:
- Wedding photo — added to your collection
- Spouse furniture — 3 exclusive pieces arrive in the mail from Elsie
- New spouse dialogue — daily interactions with your partner at home
Each spouse has their own themed furniture set with unique interactions when placed in your house.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Proposing Without Checking All Relationships
When you propose, every other romantic partner automatically becomes a best friend. You'll receive breakup letters from all of them the next day, and they'll have special breakup dialogue when you talk to them. If you're not ready to commit, don't propose.
Crafting the Ring Too Early
The Dragon Forged Core requires mine floor 90. If you haven't reached that depth, you cannot complete the ring. Farm the Ancient Ruins floors (81–99) for materials before attempting to craft.
Ignoring the 5-Day Minimum
The earliest wedding date is 5 days after the proposal. If you pick a date sooner, the game won't let you confirm it. Plan your proposal around festival days or important events if you want a specific wedding date.
Forgetting to Customize the Ceremony
Talk to your fiancé(e) in the days before the wedding to customize flowers, cake, and meal. These choices are permanent once the ceremony starts.
Advanced Tips
Dating Multiple Candidates Strategically
You can date all 12 marriage candidates simultaneously before committing. This lets you see multiple 10-heart scenes before choosing. Just remember: proposing to one ends all other romantic relationships permanently.
Spouse Furniture Is Exclusive
Each spouse has 3 unique furniture pieces you can only get by marrying them. If you want specific furniture sets, you'll need to marry that character. There's no other way to obtain these items.
Children Inherit Parent Traits
After marriage, a special cutscene triggers about 16 days later. A great bird offers you a mystical feather that lets you discuss starting a family with your spouse. If you both agree, you can choose between:
- Baby delivered (stork-style)
- Carrying the child yourself (pregnancy)
The baby arrives about half a season later. Children inherit visual traits from both parents — for example, a child of Caldarus may have dragon horns and his eye color. The child can be carried on your back (press G), placed in a cradle, and left with babysitters like Josephine.
You Can Still Date After Marriage
Post-marriage, you can still go on dates with your spouse. You can also leave your child with a babysitter, though some spouses may prefer to carry the baby themselves.
Wedding Outfits Are Permanent
All wedding outfits and headwear you preview on your wedding day are permanently added to your wardrobe. You can mix and match them afterward.
