Fields of Mistria: How to Unlock the Bathhouse Date

What You Get

The Bathhouse Date is a special date type in Fields of Mistria that lets you take your partner to the town bathhouse. Unlocking it requires a specific item called Bath Soap, which costs 100,000 Tesserae (t). Once unlocked, you'll be able to invite any romance candidate you're dating to the bathhouse on weekends, and the first time you take someone there, you'll receive a commemorative Bath Date Photo for your collection.

Prerequisites

Before you can unlock the Bathhouse Date, you need to meet these conditions:

Step-by-Step: Unlocking the Bathhouse Date

Step 1: Reach 8 Hearts with a Romance Candidate

Build friendship with your chosen romance candidate until you reach 8 hearts. You can do this through daily conversation, gifting items they like, and completing quests for them. Once you hit 8 hearts, their heart event will trigger.

Step 2: Complete the 8-Heart Event and Choose Romance

During the 8-heart event, you'll be given a dialogue choice. Select the pink dialogue option with a heart icon to begin a romance with that character. This officially makes you "dating" that person.

Step 3: Visit Wheedle's Stall on Saturday

Wheedle's Stall appears at the Saturday Market. This is the only place where you can buy Bath Soap. Make sure you're actively dating someone before you visit, because the item only appears if you meet that condition.

Step 4: Purchase Bath Soap for 100,000t

At Wheedle's Stall, look for Bath Soap and purchase it for 100,000 Tesserae. The item description reads: "This ultra fancy bath soap fills you with inspiration. Use this item to unlock the Bathhouse Date."

Step 5: Use the Bath Soap

Open your inventory and use the Bath Soap item. This will permanently unlock the Bathhouse Date as an option for all characters you're dating.

Step 6: Invite Your Partner on a Date

Once unlocked, you can invite your partner to the bathhouse on Saturday or Sunday. Remember that you can only go on one date per week, per partner. If you're dating multiple people, you could theoretically schedule one date on Saturday and another on Sunday.

Special Case: Dating Caldarus

If you're dating Caldarus before completing the main storyline, your Bathhouse Date will be different. Instead of going to the bathhouse in town, you'll visit a small pool in The Deep Woods. This is a unique variation of the Bathhouse Date that only applies to Caldarus during that specific story period.

Common Mistakes & How to Recover

Mistake 1: Visiting Wheedle's Stall While Not Dating Anyone

The problem: Bath Soap won't appear in Wheedle's inventory unless you're currently dating someone.

The fix: Go back and complete a romance path with any candidate first. You can date multiple people, so you don't need to commit to just one.

Mistake 2: Not Having Enough Tesserae

The problem: 100,000t is a significant amount, and you might arrive at the Saturday Market short on funds.

The fix: Check your wallet before Saturday. If you're short, prioritize high-value shipping items, complete town requests, and sell excess materials during the week. The Saturday Market comes every week, so you can always try again.

Mistake 3: Missing the Saturday Market

The problem: The market only runs on Saturday, and if you're busy with other activities, you might forget to visit Wheedle.

The fix: Mark Saturday on your in-game calendar and plan your day around visiting the market early. Don't schedule a date on the same Saturday you plan to buy Bath Soap, since you can only go on one date per partner per week.

Mistake 4: Expecting the Bathhouse Date to Work Differently for Caldarus

The problem: If you're dating Caldarus before finishing the main story, you might be confused when the date location changes to The Deep Woods.

The fix: This is intentional. If you want the standard bathhouse location, finish the main storyline first, then unlock the Bathhouse Date with Caldarus.

Advanced Tips

• Plan your photo: The Bath Date Photo is only awarded the first time you take someone on this date type. There's currently no way to retake a date photo, so plan your outfit ahead of time if you want a specific look.
• Weather and time matter: The current in-game weather and day cycle affect the photo. The day cycle also changes how the bathhouse appears in the photo's exterior view.
• Stack your dates: Since you can date multiple people, you could unlock the Bathhouse Date once and then take a different partner there each weekend to collect multiple Bath Date Photos.
• Save before the date: If you care about the photo quality, save your game before initiating the date so you can reload if the weather or lighting isn't what you wanted.
• Combine with other unlocks: While you're saving up for Bath Soap, consider also gathering Date Inspiration Items for other date types so you have variety once you start dating.
