How to Obtain
The Written Root is found as a forageable on floors 81–99 of the Ancient Ruins. It is available during all seasons, so season changes do not affect its spawn rate.
There are no overworld spawn locations for the Written Root. It does not appear in the fields, forests, or any other surface area of Mistria. You must descend to the deeper floors of the Ancient Ruins to find it.
Community reports suggest the Written Root can be difficult to locate, with some players running floors 80–100 multiple times without finding one. Based on player experience, the root appears to share the forageable spawn pool with other items on those floors, so clearing forageables and re-entering floors may improve your chances.
Uses
Museum Donation
The Written Root can be donated to the Flora Wing of the Museum. Donating it triggers a unique comment from Eiland:
"That Written Root you recently donated to the museum's collection... it's certainly not trying to communicate... I-is it?"
Woodcrafting
The Written Root is used in Woodcrafting recipes. The specific recipes require further in-game verification, as the crafting menu will reveal available options once you have the item in your inventory.
